An extensive consultation process will be undertaken to ensure the framework meets the needs of stakeholders and has a high degree of support from stakeholders for implementation.

 

The consultation process will involve:

  • a national roundtable discussion with leading patient safety and quality personnel from around Australia (completed)
  • focus group discussions with health care workers, consumers and other stakeholders at a variety of locations around the country
  • targeted consultation at a range of different health care settings, including rural and remote, community health and metropolitan hospitals
  • construction of a website to provide information about the development of the framework and the opportunity for online feedback

Key stakeholder groups to be consulted include:

  • Health care providers
  • Support workers
  • Consumers
  • Students and trainees preparing to work in the health care system
  • Health care managers and administrators
  • Board members of health care providers
  • State and Commonwealth government health departments
  • Policy developers
  • Professional/Industrial bodies
  • Medical colleges
  • Government and non-government health-related organisations
  • Medical indemnity organisations
  • Educators
  • Researchers
