The framework sounds great theoretically but I wonder what initiatives
are planned to ensure its implementation. Will it be integrated
into core training programs eg Universities and TAFE colleges so
that new health workers begin already armed with this information?
Although, as you state, it may be a requirement for some organisations
to offer this training what about the organisations who are not
required. As you are aware changing the culture will be a huge component
of achieving the aims of this project—but just telling people
about it or even providing the tools will ensure that this happens.

While the brief for this project is to develop, not implement
the framework, the project team is giving careful consideration
to the issues regarding implementation. The design and content of
the framework and the extensive consultation process are being managed
to give the framework the best chance of successful implementation.
The involvement of stakeholders representing training and education
organisations, including the universities and the VET sector, will
help ensure current and future programs cover the key competencies
health workers need to keep patients safe. The framework is not
a new course, it is designed to be used to benchmark existing and
new programs to upskill workers in a variety of ways eg on site,
by the bed, simulation training and other educational methods.

Encouraging to see this being developed. Was very interested in
competencies regarding attitudes. Unfortunately a poor attitude
can ruin the best health care, and this has been an area that historically
managers are reluctant to appraise and implement any disciplinary
issues. Attitudes are what make consumers want to access our services
or to go elsewhere. Hope the package goes mandatory.
